Sarah began her career in Public Practice in 1999 in Vernon, BC after receiving her Business Administration diploma from SAIT in Calgary, AB where she lived for 2 years. She decided to pursue her accounting career and enrolled in the Certified Management Accountants program. Sarah officially received her CMA designation in 2004.
Sarah opened Aries Accounting in 2009 with only a handful of clients and operated out of an office in her basement in West Kelowna, BC. After much growth with the business, Aries Accounting made a move to an office in the Lakeview Heights Village in West Kelowna in October 2012.
Sarah had been on the Executive of the CMA Okanagan Chapter from 2010 to 2016. In June 2015, the Chartered Professional Accountants Act came into force. This was a long process that took years of planning with the intent on unifying the three professional accounting bodies in BC (CA, CMA and CGA designations). Lisa joined Aries Accounting in February 2015. Lisa’s previous eight years of bookkeeping experience include working in the construction industry as well as the private education sector. Moving into public practice and working at Aries Accounting was a major turning point in her career and she hasn’t looked back.
Her previous bookkeeping experience assisted Lisa with Aries’ diverse client base. Lisa’s extensive Payroll knowledge has been a real asset to Aries. She continues to increase her skills and knowledge in this area with the goal of obtaining her Payroll Certification with the Canadian Payroll Association.
As Lisa has three children who are actively involved in community and youth sport, it was a natural progression to become more involved with the local sports associations. Lisa volunteers with the Westside Ringette Association as both a member of the Executive Board and as a coach. Coaching and mentoring young athletes has been a challenging, yet ultimately rewarding experience.
